Rethinking fair access: How level is your playing field really? (October 2018)

The Club’s autumn event was hosted by J. Walter Thompson, at the advertising agency’s Knightsbridge offices. Our keynote speaker was Dr Ger Graus OBE, Global Head of Education at KidZania, who shared his fascinating insights into the roots of ambition in children and teenagers, setting in context many of the challenges that our audience of diversity and early careers professionals now face when recruiting, training and retaining young people.

Next, we heard from Emma Hoyle, UK & European HR Director at J. Walter Thompson, who talked us through the ad firm’s evolving campaign to broaden their appeal and visibility among talented applicants from all backgrounds. Finally, it was time to hear from our audience, with contributions from Matt Baker at KPMG, Laura Roberts at ITN, Amy Shepherd and Esther Nicoll at Cancer Research UK, Steve Morton at Virgin Money, Kimberley Rowling at CBRE, Amanda Nash at Harvey Nash, Sajana Raja at Mumsnet, Lee Curtis at Selfridges, and Laurence Cubbon at Demos.
